Drill and Tap
One of the most common secondary processes is drilling and tapping holes on different sections of parts; i.e. center of head, cross shaft, end of stem, etc. Both drill and tap operations are often automated to rates of 500 to 1500 pieces per hour to produce very cost efficient operations.Types of equipment generally used can be as simple as single-head and dual-head Universal Drilling & Tapping machines or as complex as Trunion machines for high volume production or CNC machines with multi-axis capabilities.
